About Uwase Mart
Uwase Mart is a 100% Rwandan-owned company on a simple mission: make quality everyday goods accessible to every Rwandan household at honest, transparent prices. We run an online store at uwase.rw and mobile apps, and we deliver across Kigali with Cash on Delivery and MTN MoMo. We are a small, fast-moving team, so everyone who joins now helps shape how the company grows.
The role
Honest prices start with smart buying. You will find and manage the suppliers, distributors and markets we buy from, negotiate the best prices and terms, and make sure the products customers order online are in stock, in good condition and correctly priced. You will own our stock, from receiving goods to regular stock counts, and work closely with customer care and the catalogue team.
What you will do
- Find, assess and onboard suppliers: wholesalers, distributors, manufacturers and market traders across Kigali.
- Compare prices regularly and negotiate prices, minimum order quantities, credit terms and delivery.
- Plan purchases from sales data so popular products never run out and slow products do not pile up.
- Place and follow up purchase orders, and receive goods against them: quantities, quality and expiry dates.
- Keep stock records accurate in our system, and run weekly spot checks and a monthly full stock count.
- Manage expiry dates and damaged goods (first expired, first out), and work out returns with suppliers.
- Keep supplier contacts, cost prices and product details up to date so our online catalogue and margins stay correct.
- Source special orders and pre-order products for customers.
- Keep simple, accurate records of every purchase, payment and receipt (EBM invoices) for finance.
What you will bring
Must have:
- At least 2 years of experience in procurement, purchasing, stock management or wholesale or retail trade.
- Good knowledge of Kigali's wholesale markets and distributors, especially for groceries, household goods and personal care.
- Strong negotiation skills and comfort with numbers: margins, unit costs and stock levels.
- Intermediate Excel or Google Sheets.
- Fluent Kinyarwanda and good English.
- Honest, organised and careful with money and records.
Nice to have:
- A diploma or degree in procurement, logistics, business or a related field.
- Experience with inventory software and Rwanda's EBM invoicing.
- Experience importing goods or working with regional suppliers.
- A driving licence (category B) or motorbike licence (category A).
What we offer
- RWF 300,000 to 450,000 gross per month, depending on experience, paid monthly.
- RSSB social security and the other benefits required by Rwandan labour law.
- Transport costs covered for supplier and market visits.
- Real ownership: your decisions directly shape our prices and what customers can buy.
- Room to grow into a supply chain lead role as the company grows.
Working hours
Full-time, about 45 hours a week, Monday to Saturday, with early market visits when needed.
